Appointed by Grindrod, DemcoTECH Engineering was responsible for design, engineering, procurement and construction management for the materials handling portion (excluding the civils and earthworks) of the expansion to Grindrod’s multi product terminal at the port of Richards Bay in South Africa. Fly/Coarse Ash & Ash Water Return Systems for Eskom

DemcoTECH Engineering undertook detailed concept studies and audits for the Matla and Tutuka power station fly ash, coarse ash and ash water return systems for South Africa’s national power utility. The studies included the expansion to Eskom’s ash dump at the Tutuka Power Station in Mpumalanga, to cater for a planned additional 25 year life extension of the power station. ESKOM, Majuba Power Station Coal Supply Facility Upgrade

DemcoTECH Engineering was appointed to investigate the existing coal delivery facility at the 6 x 700 MW Majuba power station with a view to upgrading the throughput and system reliability. DemcoTECH developed various conceptual designs and prepared a simulation model for the rail delivery, tippler and power station feed system in order to predict the required equipment capacity and the rail infrastructure modifications necessary to deliver 14 Mtpa of coal reliably by rail. Port of Ploce Import Terminal

DemcoTECH Engineering carried out the detailed engineering of the bulk materials handling on the stockyard at an import terminal project at the Port of Ploce. The multi-product terminal offloads and handles mainly coal, but also iron ore. The vastly different material properties of coal and iron ore had design implications for the system, particularly the chutes and train rapid rail load-out system, as well as the fact that the main stockpile is served by only one rail-mounted bucket wheel stacker reclaimer.
Tanjung Bin Coal Import and Distribution Facility

DemcoTECH Engineering provided the design for the 5,000 tph conveyor system for the coal import and distribution facility at the 3,100 MW Tanjung Bin coal-fired power station located in Johor, Malaysia. DemcoTECH carried out Discrete Element Modelling (DEM) material flow analysis on all the chutes and also provided site supervision during erection and commissioning of the system.
